England’s electronic music pioneer, well-known for his hand-crafted edits, Greg Wilson gathers an impressive collection of triumphs. Now at his fifties, the man who’s majorly contributed to the DJ-cult phenomenon has been in Brazil for the second time, where he performed at the Vegas club between May 2nd and 3rd. His set, exclusively presented to you by deepbeep, marks the debut of a partnership between our website and the Volt bar, which promotes performances by internationally acclaimed artists.

Active since 1975, Wilson displays a rather peculiar technique: his tools include a Revox B77 cassette player combined with a laptop. In the 1980’s, he used to perform at the Hacienda club, in Manchester (UK). He has also witnessed the birth and growth of British post-punk movement which featured groups such as Joy Division and The Cure among its exemplars. He was also there when the Clubber culture and the Acid House scene started developing (a period portrayed in 24 Hour Party People, a movie directed by Michael Winterbottom in which Greg gets to play the role of himself).

Major artists such as Fatboy Slim, Norman Jay and Gilles Peterson, not to mention DJ Mag magazine, have elected Greg Wilson as one of the greatest DJ’s and remixers of all times.
